Amy and Mario were married summer 2019 at the Carnegie Institute for Science, the perfect backdrop for a sleek black and white D.C. wedding. Amy & Mario met while taking a Chinese proficiency exam at the University of Maryland, and upon graduating have been living and working in Asia as teachers. They lived in Taiwan while engaged and recently relocated to another city in China. Mario and his family are from Taiwan, while Amy is from the D.C./Maryland area. Many of their guests traveled from abroad to attend their special day. Washington, D.C. was the perfect city for them to get married in and also to welcome their international friends and family.
On their big day, Amy wore an off-the-shoulder Carolina Herrera gown, and Mario chose a black tuxedo. Their wedding party paired perfectly in black floor length gowns of their choice for the ladies, and classic black tuxedos for the men. Their ceremony took place in the beautiful rotunda at Carnegie, set against the large floor to ceiling doors. Décor was kept to simple greenery planters in the four niches surrounding the ceremony.
Reception centerpieces were lush classic white florals with touches of greenery, romantic tapered candles, and black votives, adding just the right amount of modern touch to their elegant wedding reception. Their two tier textured buttercream cake was displayed in front of the double doors overlooking the city during cocktail hour with touches of white florals and Japanese Smilex vine.
